Djibril Zero

null

A neat little present landed in my lap recently.

Nagi, the angel that descends from heaven to protect your life, only to kill you by triggering an unstoppable nosebleed.

She is magical~

[More:]

One of my first figure purchases, I'm thrilled with her in almost every way.

Her name's Shinno Nagi, from Djibril 3; details on the game can be found here: (totally not safe for work)

Contents

1 Djibril Zero figure
1 Collectible trading card
1 Clear-blue stand
1 Solid metal post

The post is an optional square rod; very strong. It fits snugly into Djibril's right knee and the stand. It almost reaches a full centimeter into her knee. I have no worries of displaying her with the stand for months at a time.

Grading scheme

10/10 - This is the figure I would fly to Japan and line up for, if I knew I wasn't going to get my hands on it any other way.

9/10 - The figure is good. But, it's missing something, and you're not quite sure what it is. I'd buy it even if I didn't know the series.

5/10 - A passing mark. If you're a fan of the character, or of the company, or of the sculptor, you'll easily come up with an excuse to buy it.

Anything less than 4 is just various shades of "meh".

Paintwork: 8.5/10

It's lovely work. The shading is excellent, the panel lining (?) is tastefully done. They've even used two different whites; one for the satin whites like her one-piece and socks, and one for the shiny metallic whites like her arms and shoes. Her wings are also a lovely, frosted, transparent blue; they're beautiful when catching sunlight.

What are the problems? The red trim on her scarf is uneven at some points. But, none of the problems would show up in photographs; it's not a huge worry for me.

Sculpt: 9/10

The pose is delightful. It captures an unhealthy dose of moe. And, she fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. Fantastic!!

She looks wonderful sitting. She looks wonderful lying down. It's almost impossible to make her look bad.

It is slightly on the fragile side. The wings and the halo are, of course, brittle translucent plastic. I won't count it against her though.

Packaging: 8.5/10

The box is wonderful. The design is rather cute.

Inside, she's protected well. There's even little plastic bag "socks" slid over her legs, to prevent them from rubbing against each other.

Why isn't it 10/10? There was some paper dust scattered around the bottom of it (-0.5), and there isn't a "wow" factor to it. To be honest though, I don't think any figure would get a 10/10 for packaging; that would curtail a metal case, with foam-core padding and a silk-lined interior.

Last words

Would I recommend Djibril Zero to fans of the Djibril series, or of Frontwing in general, or of mizugi-based outfits? Quite!! Would I recommend her to the die-hard figure veteran, whose tastes are refined and tough to please? Let me get back to you after my 8th or 9th figure.

...and no, I'm not putting her anywhere near the tentacle monster toys. Ever.
